What does that mean for your municipality and employees? Let’s break it down.  **What is Texas House Bill 3834?** Authored by Rep. Giovanni Capriglione (R-Southlake), HB 3834 **requires that all Texas county officials and their staff complete a cybersecurity training program certified by the Department of Information Resources.** ![](https://static.hsstatic.net/BlogImporterAssetsUI/ex/missing-image.png) **Why is this important?** Cyberattacks on local city governments have seen [a stark uptick](https://www.npr.org/2019/08/20/752695554/23-texas-towns-hit-with-ransomware-attack-in-new-front-of-cyberassault) in the last year, mounting the response that we’re seeing now with House Bill 3834.
