Chris Powell

Chris has called Lubbock “home” for 31 years. After graduating from Texas State University with a degree in biology, Chris returned to Lubbock in 1997, aligned with a local insurance agency, and specialized in client development and technology advancement. As Vice President, Chris enjoyed 18 years focusing on company expansion within and beyond Lubbock boundaries. This included development of a new corporate wellness division to improve employee health and reduce the healthcare cost trend for employers throughout the Lubbock region. HIPAA compliance, as well as federal healthcare reform, were also top priorities in his client relationships. Transitioning to Blue Layer in 2018 as Chief Strategy Officer, Chris continues his passion of building relationships and helping local businesses achieve their goals. Outside of business, Chris enjoys photography, tennis with his son, Caleb; and volunteer work at the South Plains Food Bank.
